Course Outline
1. Introduction
-- An overview: electromagnetic radiation and spectroscopy in general
2. Angular momentum, spin properties and magnetic resonance
-- Two-level system
-- From NMR to EPR
3. EPR spectra of the hydrogen atoms
Hyperfine structure, Fermi contact interaction
Singlet-triplet mixing and forbidden transitions
4. EPR spectra of paramagnetic organic species
-- (free radicals, biradicals and triplet states)
5. EPR spectra of transition metal ions and complexes
6. Spin relaxation, molecular rate processes and MRI techniques
7. Special topics: Pulsed techniques, dynamic nuclear polarization, etc.
